BEFORE A&R
If you have reached the point where an A&R person has been persuaded to see and hear you, then you will have managed to leap the most difficult obstacle - creating attention.
Getting to that point is the hard part.
Let us assume that you play guitar, sing and have written some songs, which you have recorded at home. You think they sound good, so do your friends. Many people think that is enough and all that remains is to send the tape to a record company and wait for them to sign you. Wrong!
Sending a demonstration tape/CD ('demo') to a record company is not the best way of arousing interest. |
