Communications
Incorporated within the Communications function are the following departments:
The Artist Relations department is responsible for organising all artist-related events such as album launches, artist showcases, press conferences, aftershow hospitality, album presentations to retail etc. The department liaises between the record label and artist management to co-ordinate a wide range of activities including artist diaries and itineraries, transport and accommodation for promotional visits, arranging artist gifts and dinners. The Artist Relations department is also involved in co-ordinating artist's tours, liasing with the labels and artist management and managing tour budgets. An additional responsibility of the department is to order and distribute tickets to the company for gigs by EMI artists.
The Administration department is responsible for looking after the building, its maintenance and its security. The department also deals with stationery orders, telephones and fax machines, mobile phones, photocopiers (faults and stock replenishment) and the distribution of post, both internally and externally and recycling.
On the corporate side, the Communications department represents EMI Records to the record industry and the world beyond. The department deals with queries about the company and requests for various kinds of information or sponsorship from many external sources such as trade and national press, students, charities, the local community and members of the public. Internally Communications keeps staff members informed of company developments and product releases through the in-house magazine 'Homepage', the monthly video compilation ETV and any other relevant company literature.
The Consumer Relations department is responsible for dealing with queries from the public regarding EMI products e.g. CD's that either they would like to purchase or they have already bought.
