Prior to this Peter carried out the same role for Virgin Records before it was fully incorporated into EMI Music UK. NOW Thats What I Call Music is the most commercially successful compilation series in the UK ever, and in his role of Co-MD, Peter co-manages this television compilation business. EMI sells more compilations than any other record company and successful titles include not only the NOW compilation brand, but also Songs (Housework Songs, Break up Songs etc.), Bestin the world Ever! and New Woman.
Co-managing EMI Catalogue involves responsibility for budget and mid-price product ranges as well as the full exploitation of EMI's rich back catalogue and all its secondary rights. EMI Catalogue covers many hundreds of artists, but in particular the label deals with the likes of David Bowie, Genesis, Cliff Richard, Duran Duran, Phil Collins, Sex Pistols etc.
The Commercial Marketing division plays a vital role in generating further profit from EMI's recorded music. The department is involved in many diverse areas of business, from sourcing and negotiating synchronisation deals, for example TV ad sound beds and film soundtracks, to sponsorship and endorsement of EMI artists with particular commercial products.
Peter particularly enjoys the challenging and diverse range of businesses he manages, ranging from a release schedule of over 400 releases a year, to a growing synchronisation and licensing business.";
