HR Manager
After graduating in 1995, like most students, I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do with my life. If you'd told me then that 5 years later I would be the HR Manager at EMI Records, I'd have eaten my hat! One chewy balaclava, 3.5 years at EMI and 18 months of further study later...here I am!
Before joining EMI I worked as a recruitment consultant and in the HR department of a large hotel. I was able to bring the skills from these roles to my first job at EMI of HR Assistant. After a year of learning the fundamentals of HR, I embarked upon my CIPD studies to gain the professional HR qualification. EMI supported the course financially and gave me some additional leave, however, it's a big commitment from both sides and I'm glad it's all over (I passed by the way).
I was promoted in early 1999 to HR Advisor and again in April 2000 to HR Manager. I'm involved in all aspects of recruitment and selection, training and development, career guidance to employees and working with managers across a range of projects. It's often long hours and mad busy but to be the given the opportunity to work in such a creative and motivating environment makes it all worth while and very difficult to beat.
